The weeks and days leading up to Valentine’s day can feel like a mad dash of making plans and hoping to impress your partner. Although the preparation can be stressful it can also be rewarding as couples share in their appreciation and love for one another.
The spice is alive and well on Valentine’s day, but, what happens after the Valentine’s holiday? Here are 5 ideas for keeping the spice alive year round!
- Make a Date Jar

The purpose of a date jar is to aid with the decision making around what couples should do for their next dates. The ideas should be practical, within a comfortable driving distance, and able to be planned easily. This ensures that the date ideas can be accomplished on short notice if needed. The date jar also makes room for new ideas that interest the couple.
A date jar usually contains multiple sheets of paper that include date ideas on each slip. To get your date jar started each partner can begin with 5 slips of paper to write down their desired date idea. You can choose to discuss your ideas or keep them a secret until they are pulled from the date jar.
2. Bake a Sweet Treat Together

Baking is a science that can be very rewarding, or hilarious, once finished. No matter the outcome, the journey is what matters with this one! This activity also works your communication skills with your partner.
Go to the grocery store together & collaborate on the type of dessert you will bake. Take turns reading the directions to each other & see who can be most accurate. Lastly, light a candle and pour a glass of your favorite dessert drinks to enjoy with your treat!
3. Board Game Night

When is the last time you pulled out a board game with each other?! Now’s the time! Find a long form board game to play on any at home date night. This will get the competitive juices flowing but remember, it’s just a game! Let the competitiveness take you far beyond the board game if you both are up to it.
4. Get Dressed!

Plan a date night, in or out of the house, & dress each other for the date. Allow your partner to pick the outfit they find most sexy on you. Imagine knowing that you are already in their favorite outfit as you both get to spend quality time with each other. No matter where the date, ensure that it is at a place you both find romantic. Remember, romance can be WHATEVER you want it to be!
5. Discuss what you liked most about your last intimate moment together

I know, I saved the most intimidating one for last! This step should be handled with care and respect for each other. Let your partner know what small touches, words, or other intimate acts turned you on most.
Bonus Points if you all discuss your future intimate desires openly! Also important to know that no immediate action is required unless you both consent to trying something new.
Which one will you all be trying first?
